Her facepaint design is symbolic of her devotion to Menphina: the dots above the lines represent the movement of the moon above the land throughout the night, while the four dots over just one eye represent the former second moon. It's been a common pattern among the Ninakas for generations, though her grandmother Sarha altered it from having dots above both eyes after the Calamity.

Biography

Mihri was born to a small Keeper clan in the West Shroud, comprised of her grandmother Sarha, mother Yovh, her aunts Bhat and Havha, and her siblings and cousins. She has three older sisters: Ahri and the twins Rhel and Lhei, and a younger brother, Yovh'a. While she and her siblings share the same father, Sizha'to Khamazom, he travels between his own mother's clan and the other families that he's tied to, and visited regularly but only occasionally before the Calamity, mostly to teach Yovh'a about traditions specific to Keeper men.In the summer, her family will go on hunting trips for up to weeks at a time, while in the winter they reside in a village called Oathroot, based in the caves below the roots of a massive tree, and spend their time making leather goods to wear and trade with other families and nearby villages. Before becoming an adventurer, Mihri had almost exclusively interacted with other Keepers and Duskwights. Her family avoids Gridanian society as much as possible, preferring to maintain their traditional Keeper hunter-gatherer lifestyle.Mihri has held a bow practically since she learned to walk, and is an incredibly skilled and precise shortbow archer. At age 15, she began studying conjury under Oathroot's wisewoman, Hearer Qih Vashai. Despite her best efforts, Mihri remained unable to hear even the slightest whisper from the Elementals. The Calamity was a massive upheaval in the Ninakas' lives. Though they were fortunate enough not to lose anyone to the Calamity, Ahri lost the use of one of her legs when it was crushed under a falling tree while she was saving the unconscious Mihri, who was experiencing her first Echo vision. Though the sisters survived three days in the ensuing forest fire thanks to Mihri's conjury and her sister has adapted quite well, becoming a highly regarded weaver in their community, Mihri still feels guilty. Besides that, however, lower Mor Dhona was rendered effectively uninhabitable by Dalamud's fall, cutting off the trade route the West Shroud villages used to use, and on the Shroud side, the shard of Dalamud that landed in the North Shroud carved a massive path of destruction through the land, turning what was simply more forest into a mountainous region filled with corrupted crystals. Entire villages were destroyed in the blink of an eye. With the one aetheryte in the West Shroud destroyed and the land journey to anywhere else now taking weeks, the West Shroud was very effectively isolated from the rest of the world. As Mihri grew older, she became more and more curious about what lay beyond the bounds of her home. Had the West Shroud never been cut off, she might have merely left on a journey to see a little more of the realm and then returned. But with the journey to and from her home being so arduous, her desire to leave had to be far stronger, for it would be no easy thing to come home. Mihri's mother didn't understand, fearing that if her youngest daughter left the West Shroud she would never see her again. But though Mihri loves her home dearly, she knew that if she never saw what else the world had to offer she would always be unsatisfied. She wants to travel everywhere and see absolutely everything. And so she set out with her bow and her conjurer's wand and what camping supplies she could carry, and made the long lonely journey across the mountains to the South Shroud. Once there, she bartered for a seat on a carriage from Camp Tranquil to Ul'dah and decided to learn thaumaturgy purely for the sake of learning something new, something that she never could have learned if she had remained at home.Ul'dah was a massive culture shock. As her family bartered for everything, she was blissfully unaware of concepts like "gil" and "nobility" and "exploiting the poor." She managed to adapt, however, by focusing on helping anyone she could, and has made several friends in the city. Other challenges of the outside world included being forced into a diurnal sleep cycle (she is permanently sleep-deprived) and her monolatrous religion being seen as highly unusual (though she believes in other gods well enough, Mihri exclusively worships Menphina).By now, however, Mihri has fully thrown herself into the lifestyle of the traveling adventurer. In Ishgard, she adapted her fighting style, learning swordplay and combining it with her archery and conjury to form a discipline she calls "Green Knight." Of Eorzea's city-states, she has a particular fondness for Ishgard and Ala Mhigo and has even surprised herself by immersing herself in Gridania's Keeper of the Moon culture, though she remains wary of the Wood Wailers and will not share her family's location. She owns a small apartment in Gridania's Lavender Beds district, which serves as a place of solace for any Keeper of the Moon who wishes to visit. And someday, when she has seen all she can, she will return home.

Personality

Mihri is by nature quiet and intense, by inclination friendly and sociable. Though a woman of few words, she's always ready to reach out to others with her actions, a helping hand and a smile at the ready. She is a hunter at heart, forming a goal and moving steadily but surely towards it, until she hits her target and finds something new to focus on, whether that's an actual hunt, a new friend she's trying to make, or an enemy she thinks she needs to stop. That stubbornness can be an asset, but also a liability, particularly because she has a tendency to neglect herself when she thinks she needs to help someone else.
She will hold grudges against those who have hurt the people she cares about, and is unlikely to offer forgiveness unless she's the only one wronged, in which case she is sometimes too forgiving, or unless the person who was hurt specifically asks her to. She will eventually reach her limit on living only for the sake of others, and need to learn to want for herself. She takes no pleasure in killing, and will spare an enemy if she thinks they can be convinced to change, but if she judges someone too great a threat she will not hesitate to strike the final blow. Her most sacred principle is "for every act of violence, there must be a purpose of life."
Mihri has a huge soft spot for children and teenagers, at least partially due to guilt from leaving home before her little brother grew up. Anyone younger than her that she spends significant time around will be informally adopted.

Forest Guide

Perhaps you just need a quick route through the Black Shroud, or perhaps you want to avoid Gridania entirely. Mihri can guide you through the depths of the forest, for the right price. Any bandit encounters cost extra.

Rival Hunters

You've been stalking game for days, when an arrow flies out from the trees and strikes your quarry. Or perhaps you found Mihri on the same trail. Will you come to an agreement on what to do with the meat and hide? Maybe you'll even befriend her, and keep hunting together, or share a drink in a local tavern.

Catfish Out of Water

A lost-looking Miqo'te is roaming the city streets, staring wide-eyed at everything around her. With that kind of attitude she's just looking to get robbed, unless she's lucky enough to find someone to show her the ropes.
